Every spring my fish spawn in my 120 gallon pond and ive had it for almost four years!! i love the fish! I have one Red and Black fantail she is about 10 inches and she is humongous!! I waz wondering wat could i put in their to keep the fish from eating the eggs??? Some of the local petstores told me to put a sponge with the biggest holes you can find in their but they didnt say whether to sink it or leave it floating???? About two years ago we got a Slate rock that is about 2 and a half feet long and we propped it up with bricks and they love it!!

If you keep a lot of plants like Elodea,Cabomba, etc. They'll brush up against those and you can take the plants and place them somewhere safe.People also use these things called spawning mops, made with yarn, that work in the same way.How many fish do you have in the pond now?

A spawning mop can be made with a good, uncolored (my preference) acrylic yarn. Cut lengths of the yarn (12-18 inches long) and tie them together in the middle. This will act as a breeding mop.

I like acrylic rope better. This can be frayed out to a very fine thready mop.
