looks like popeye to me but you might want to get a second opinion you treat it w/ meracyn(sp?)

Does it look like the eyes really big compared to the other? Most times popeye affects both eyes, but not always. There's also a chance that there could have been some trauma to the eye.Looking at the pics,I didn't really see it myself. And by the way, what a fish face-Adorable
When you're looking into the tank, does it look like an obvious donut around the eye?
Just making sure....I have a few bigger Orandas with a bit of white near their eyes but its not popeye.

well, i do notice that white ring. i am not too sure if its a popeye or not, because i have a pentair 15w uvs running 24-7. WQ is excellent. she has been swimming a big weird, going in circles sometimes. the only thing i can think of that could of cause this is the dead plants.

Do you know the ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph levels?
I can see the ring around the eye in the third picture.
Has the eye gotten worse? I think w/popeye the eye can only get worse but I am not too sure, so if its remained the same then it probably isn't popeye.
If you have epsom salt you can add 1/8tsp per 5 gallons, I think and see if this helps bring it down.

Swimming wierd would indicate somethings up. Bulging eyes from trauma should clear up soon with salt by reducing the osmotic pressure. But bulging eye from bacterial infection might need meds I think. It doesn't look too bad form the pic sofar as I can see...how is the fish doing now?

I'm sorry to hear that but on the plus side, many people have had excellent results with Maracyn also. I think the problem is treating with the correct maracyn as one treats gram negative bacteria and the other is designed to resolve gram positive bacteria...
Fondoo - hopefully these meds will help and please, keep us posted
