Hi

I have a fluval 2 plus filter, And i was wondering about the outtake tube, the blue tube witch lets water out, where should this be placed in the water?, Under the water level or sticking out like a water fall or level with the water level? Iv'e always wondered what would be best for my fish on where my outtake tube is placed ?

So i would be greatfull of someone who could tell me the best place to put my blue outake tube on my fluval 2 plus!

Thanks in advance..... smile.gif heartpump.gif

Is it new? If so you should have attachments to go into the top of it which draws air down and into the outtake.
The actual nozzle itself should be just under the water with the attachment above water and you lift the filter to where you want it so you can have lots of bubbles or less bubbles. You can also alter the flow of air by turning the black attachment on top.
If you dont have any attachments then as long as the top of the filter is just breaking the surface that is the highest point out the water you should really have the filter.

i have that filter, and also have 2 fluval 3 plus filters. I place the output near the surface so it ripples the water, but not so high that there is a waterfall effect (too noisy!)

It's best to ripple the water as this helps oxygenate the water. However if you have an air bubble stick this will also help oxygenate the water and in this case you can put the output from the filter below the surface of that's what you want.

(ps, i also like to have the output rippling the water as i could easily see if the filter were to stop working!!)

oh yeah, i forgot about the little air intake bit at the top!! i dont use that anymore as it makes a strange noise i think. and i prefer to simply have it rippling the top of that water. it looks quite nice too!

I was understanding that it's ment to be under the water level the blue out take>, But how far under shall i put it, Shall it be levelish with the water surface, Or shall it be under the water all the blue part and have it level with the black thing sticking out witch ajusts the bubbles the out take lets out shall the bottom of that black ajusting thing be level with the water or will that be too far down?

Could someone describe best place at the moment its level with the water surface the bit witch has the hole what lets out water, Hope someone can describe best way it should be.

either, it's up to you.

if you want bubbles do the second idea, just put the outflow under the water with the bottom of the black sticking out bit level with the water, the rest of it sticking it out of the water. use the top of it to adjust how much air flows through.

If you dont want to use the air intake just take it off, cap the hole (with the cap that's attached) and put the filter in deep enough that that outtake is underwater, with the top of the outflow at water level, so it ripples the water a bit.

in the end so long as the outtake is shooting out the clean water it doesnt really matter where u put it. It's entirely up to you. just try a few things out and see what you prefer.
