Just got another bertta . yeah the betta bug bit me good. I got her friday. She is a crimson red -either a wild round tail or a plakat. Named her Phoebe. hopefully will get pics one of these days. I have her in a half gallon container in the bed room on my night stand. ( she is in the bedroom cause she's a girl, Ginseng is in the frontroom cause he is a boy ) She so tiny. Very active little girl. I got her acclimated to her new vase and she ate the very same night and has a really good appettite

Thanks Guys. I am trying to figure out what type she is. Like I said she is crimson red. She has the finnage of a plakat, but her tail is an elongated circle kinda like a spade tail without the pointy end. are some plakats like that? I know she is not a veil tail. there were other veil tail females at the store with her and she does not look like them. Wish I had a pic but don't . Does anyone think they know what she is out of curiosity. Do you know Kissy or MrBumblebee or Devs?

Classifying female Betta fins types can be very difficult, the shorter than short finnage always looks similar to what you'd expect to see in a male plakat, although they can be even fancier than the males sometimes!

I'm not sure from your discription, if you're sure she is not a veiltail, it is possible she could be one of the fan tail types like a half moon or something. It is also possible she could be a cross of two types which would be even more difficult to classify.

Yabbie and d_golem are good at this this type of thing, but without a picture it is tough. Maybe you could find a similar picture of a female betta online to compare her to?

thanks. the pics online is where I came up with the ideas that she was a veiltail and something else cross. It is definitely a she though. When she was swimming around this moring I got view of her belly and her oviposter is very obvious due to her red color. so I am thinking she is a female veil tail maybe plakat cross. Oh well .

She does sound really lovely though Kris, whatever tail type she is. I really love red Bettas and she sounds like a lovely shade

I just saw a pic on the net and I think I finally figured out what kind of betta Phoebe is. She is a plakat.

this fish looks a lot like Phoebe except Phoebe is crimson red all over .
