thanks i wasnt sure if that was how it was done or not(i figured it was some complicated thing) if it was sticky on the one side i know i would end up with bubbles in it so i am glad it is that easy.lol

I use standard aquarium silicone around the top and side edges of my backgrounds. Keeps water from getting between the glass and background material.

By far the best way of not only adding a background to your tank but making sure it's as vibrant and '3D' as it's meant to be is by sponging on petrolium jelly (vaseline) over the entire surface of the sheet. It will remain stuck to the tank for as long as you want it, it will also come up more colourful then just 'resting' on the glass and it's easily removed and the vaseline washes off with warm water - too easy

That's an interesting idea!
I used spray adhesive. I think the brand was Krylon.
Just spray it on the back of the tank, wait about 15-30 seconds and apply the background. It's kind of like putting wall paper on--I used one of those flat plastic tools (cannot think of the name for anything) that you smooth the wallpaper onto the wall to get any bubbles out. And, like JenW said, it makes the background much more vibrant.
When I changed the background, I used GooGone to remove any residue. It took me about 15 minutes to clean off the back of my 90 gallon and it was like new. The next background went on easily and has stayed on.

I did not have much room behind mine either. So what I did is I took the tank measurements and made sure to cut it to the proper measurements. Then I laid the cover on the table and took the double face tape and laid it on different parts of the backround and then took it and applied it to the back of the tank a little at a time . It sticks right away.

What I do is just put scotch tape on the 4 corners
