hi guys
my gf is getting red patches on his body and up near his dorsal fin and on his side.
im not sure what to do but my water is looking more murkier then usual even tho ive been doing regular changes like usual.
my tank is 2.8 gals not alot but im getting a 24gal so im going to change very soon both of my fish are acting normal and ther size is about an inch i dont have ne tests but im about to do a water change is that a good idea? no medications or new fish added to the tank..
so does ne onehave ne ideas?
sorry this is rushed but i want to do a water change quickly now to see if this helps if i have no replies by the time i get back i shall post it in a better format under the same thread thnx guys sorry

I would think that the red patches are a sign of poor water quality. It is very difficult to keep the water quality as good as it needs to be for goldfish health in such a small tank. Even with only very small fish.

I would definitely do a water change, and you know, in a tank that small, I would do water changes every day until I could get a bigger tank. Do about 20 - 25% a day. That will go a long way to help your fish.

You will have a much easier time of it with the larger tank. But until then, keep up the water changes.

Let me know if it helps the fish. Sometimes redness can be the first signs of bacterial infections. Hopefully, the water changes will stop it.

You may notice the areas that were red, start to blacken. Do not get alarmed, since this is a sign of healing in fish and would be a good thing smile.gif
