I'm stunned really! I saw last night that my tank is slightly tipped forwards. blink.gif At first I thought the tank was supposed to look like that but when I checked the floor around it with the water level it turns out the whole floor is sloping! It's all empty now so there's no emergency, but there surely could have been. What can I do to correct this? It's not a major slope, but I'm still worried. Should I be? I had it running for 7 months and nothing happened. There's no other place for the tank so I can't move it. sad.gif And I can't do anything to the floor since I'm only renting this apartment.
The tank itself is a 47 gallon bowfront, the front of it and the sides are cast in one piece. It's glued to the back and the bottom though. The stand came with the tank and has 6 legs. I have no batteries for the camera at this moment but I can post pictures tomorrow if you need some.
I hope I can get some advice on this, and that it can be fixed as soon as possible.

Ack! What a bummer. Darn un-even floor's.

Is there some way you can "prop" something under the front of the tank to even it out some?, Like a board? Might look silly but if it works it's better than nothing.

Thats always scary, especially with a large tank. Id go with Dellas suggestion. Use a board to even out the front of the tank with the back. You could even cut a piece for each leg if you didnt want a whole board running across.

They sell styrofoam sheets at the hardware store. The kind that are used for insulation. You can get ones that are about 3/8-1/2 inch thick. A piece of styrofoam such as this cut slightly larger than the base of your stand or your tank will allow you to level the tank. If you wish to put the stand on it (legs, huh?) you can smash the styrofoam with a hammer to make it level the tank. If you wish, put it on the stand, under the tank. Place a level on the tank and pound the styrofoam flatter where you need the tank to be lower.

I did this for my daughter's tank stand in her old apartment. The foam went under the solid tank stand and the tank was placed on top. I put a level across the tank. In this case, the foam was soft enough that we could just stomp a bit on the stuff to make it into a wedge of the right width to level the whole thing. It worked well for 2 years until she moved.

I put foam board under every one of my tanks so that the weight of the tank will squash the foam to fit and make the tank fully supported at all places.

Many floors are unlevel. It is more common than level floors. They just usually are not so bad that you notice it.

Thanks for your replies! My boyfriend says the styrofoam might crumble (though it's unlikely) so I'm gonna go with the board I think. I've measured the slope and the difference between the front and the back is ~4 mm. Doesn't sound like much but it's better to be safe than sorry. smile.gif
