my one crowntail betta is huge he is way bigger than all my other bettas and at first i thought maybe CT bettas were just bigger than VT bettas but i have another CT that is smaller like my VT they eat the same food why do you think they are so different in size?

genetics. I'm sure he has different parents.

I beleive it's not uncommon to find the occasional larger than normal Betta now and again. Like Sushi says, it primarily depends on breeding and genetics, but also environmental factors such as water quality in early life. When you say huge, how much bigger is he than the others? Maybe post a picture smile.gif

Yup there is such a thing as an occaisonal giant betta. Like Mrbumlbee mentioned a comparison pic would be helpfu. And as Sushi mentioned is probably just in his genes.

Just re-read my earlier post rolleyes.gif , what I meant to say was that poor water quality in early years can affect growth rates in all fish.

Overall growth is pre-determined to a certain extent by breeding and genetics smile.gif
