Full Version: Repairing Lid On 75g

My 75g tank does not have one of those deviders. So the glass top is one whole piece. This lid is very expensive to replace and has to be special ordered.
Most smaller glass lids have a special attachment in the middle so you can open and close them. It is hard plastic and last forever.
How ever on my 75g it was held together with some sort of plastic that was bindy instead of like the others. This plastic has finally come apart and now my lid is in two pieces. This is very hard to work with when I have to clean this tank.
Anyone have any idea what they may of used on this lid so I can fix it? I would think regular sealant would be to stiff. Or am I wrong in this accuption?
Or maybe someone has an idea for an alterenative.
Thanks for any help on this.

PS Moved my 4 goldfish to my 75g Returned a couple of my parrot fish to the pet store and moved the rest to my 30g.(Still plan to upgrade this tank in Dec with at least a 45g bow front or bigger) Just cant seem to enjoy fish that beat each other up all the time. lol

PPS If this dont make since Ill try to get pictures tomorrow.

There are plastic hinges that you can order which are exactly what the hinge was that broke. They come in 4 or 5 foot lengths. You cut them to fit the length you need. I have ordered numerous ones from them. They replace the ones that fatique over time and fall apart.
