Ok so this is my luck. After almost 5 weeks of a fishless cycle, my tanks NitrItes are finnally starting to drop.

"Getting close to your goal?" asks the Karma god

foolishly I reply "Why yes i am".

<insert error buzzer here> Company is deciding to send me off to a lovely little beach hotel in SC for a week. Since I plan on turning off my water and main breaker my filters obviously wont work. How do I preserve the bio-filter for this period of time?

What kind of filter are you running? How long, exactly, will you be gone for?

I would take the media, wrap it in soaking wet paper towels, then put in a ziploc bag. That may keep it okay.....maybe daryl will drop in w/ a word or two - she's the queen on this subject.
