I found this little guy at the back of the cup pile. He has a very interesting color which I couldn't really do justice with the camera. With the flash on he turns green and with it off it's almost too dark, but he's actually a very pretty dark to light brown with blue highlights.

There's nothing wrong with nature names Maceo Hmm...I keep thinking of all these pretty nature names and I have the urge to buy more bettas to name... is that bad?

I just think it's funny, you and your nature names, and my friends think I'm a hippy... I think you need to act on that betta buying urge... but then again I can be a bad influence when it comes to buying anything but especially fish... don't you have some empty spaces that are just calling for a betta tank? I think I can hear them...

Hi Imber,Congrats on your lovely Betta.I happen to love his coloring.Alot of people go for the obvious Reds/blues,etc.,not realizing how some of these darker ones really are beautiful.
As for the name of "Acorn",well I think it suits him fine.Looking forward to hearing more about him.

Thanks for all the compliments! I definitely keep an eye out for the less commonly colored bettas, but usually they just end up turning blue or red on me anyway Not that there's anything wrong with that because I love them all the same, but my husband keeps teasing me telling me that acorn is going to be blue one day when I go in to feed him. My naming scheme is pretty much all over the place. He just looked like he should be called Acorn like my last girl that I bought looked like she should be called Bettie Sue.

Ok here's the update on how he's doing: He ate right away which surprised me since usually it takes some coaxing. When I first got him he started to mope around, but I moved Bettie Sue's tank over next to him and that perked him right up. Now he's built her several bubble nests and is always showing off to her. She's such a diva though that she just eats the attention right up.

You know how those betta Boys can be.....Show them a girl and they turn in to "Betta Man"
