Full Version: Got New Filter Installed At Last

my new filter arrived on wednesday and we needed to put a longer electricity cable on it, so it's taken a couple of days to get all that sorted out, then i needed to dig a bigger hole as the new filter is much larger and actually does 6000litres per hour so 4x turnover....i hope that's not too much...but i've figured you can't have too much filtration just a bigger electricity bill wink.gif

anyhow's...

this is the new filter beside the old one

inside...sooo much more foam than the old one

murky pond...no filtration for 10 days now and have done a couple of huge water changes and it's still stinking...i feel so bad for the fish sad.gif

so once all was installed i switched it on and watched anxiously...

i thought all was okay but after a few mins i noticed a drip or two of water coming out of the blue filter switch on the lid, then i twiddled with the switch (it's a big blue plastic switch which turns between filter and cleaning mode) and a bit more water came out!!

i don't know what on earth is wrong as the switch wasn't even something i had to attatch! i'm going to phone Oase in the morning about it and in the mean time i've turned everything off...totally paranoid about the pond emptying again!!!

i wish my pond would just run smoothly....

phoned oase this morning about filter, the water leaking from the switch is normal aparently...he said if they made the switch any tighter you wouldn't be able to turn it and that if i wanted i could open up the filter lid and add extra vasaline to grease it better, but that over time it should drip less as dirt particles build up and block any "gaps" so i have it back on again and am just relieved that it's normal!

looking forward to the pond clearing up now and seeing my poor wee fishes again!

wow you've had your time with your pond this year. I would put the vasaline on there to help it. A drip is still a drip. Doesn't make sense that they'd make it that way to me but they are the engineers. I hope your pond clears up soon! Smelly pond is not fun, your fish will be happy in a few days for sure smile.gif

All's well that ends well! I guess that's what they say. A sparkly clean pond is always good news. Looking forward to the new pictures.

BTW one of the guys that works for me is going to rent out a room in my house he said he'd help build a pond so MAYBE soon I'll get started on mine. We'll see. It's all about the money though, I want the pump and filter before I start the dig.
