Full Version: My Tank Is Cycled!

My tank is finally cycled again! After boiling gravel and sterilizing filters and tank with potasium permanganate for 3 days my tank is back to normal.

It took 12 days to cycle! I introduced a fish each couple of days begining on day 1. I also added biospira and plants on the first day. Ammonia levels were kept at 1ppm with daily water changes. On day 11 the ammonia level had gone down and on day 12 it was 0ppm. Bye bye daily water changes!

All Right! banana.gif I love it when a tank cycles. Congratulations.

Say - did you take your exams? I hope they went well!

I've been getting some good feedback on bio-spira. It is true that stuff works in 24 hours or more?
Kingyo
That stuff is great! A hyper dose of good bacteria (nitrifiers) to seed your tank. Mine took so long because of the 50% daily water changes, I was wasting them away! Scousersharon did a great job with her fishless cycle in 5 days.

Thanks Daryl, still studying for them... presenting next week the terrible Qualifying Exam! Thud.gif

Congrtaz Kingyo! SO nice when a tank finally cycles and you can relax. We can't get Biospira here so Im currently cycling my new tank the hard way... I have millions of water changes to go yet. smile.gif

Best of luck in your exam next week - my fingers are crossed for you. smile.gif

Best of luck. Study away. If you feel the need to dump your brain out occasionally, we are here for you!

Thanks!

Emma, maybe not having Biospira in the UK is a great opportunity to start a new business... reproduce healthy filter bacteria and sell it at LFSs
