on how addictive these little guys are!!! heartpump.gif I want about a dozen more now. rolleyes.gif

I have a 10 gal tank set up that will be available in about a week or so. I would like to put some girls together. Is three too many for that size tank??
sandtiger
Actaully I think three is too little. I would go with about 5 at least. With female bettas you actually want to overstock a bit to minimize aggresion. True, they aren't as aggresive as males but they will bother individual shoal mates if kept in smaller shoals.

Hahaha yes they are addictive. I only had one for a year, but I just got a little girly too smile.gif

Actually...in my opinion 3 is too little! For a 10 gallon I would get 5 females, and make sure you introduce them all into the tank at the same time and that there are lots of hiding places. That way they get along better. They may fight a lot in the begining, but generally they do settle down. Have fun with your girl tank!

laugh.gif I'm with you Erin on all the Betta's.At one time,I too had over 30-and then a pair spawned and had babies. It truely was a ton of work to keep up with-especially having all the regular tanks that I have. krazy.gif

I too think that 5 is a good number.Don't be fooled into thinking that females are not quite as aggresive as males either, for I've had more females be the meaner ones. rolleyes.gif
As mentioned, the most important thing is to introduce them into the tank all at one time. They might fight for a bit until they get a "pecking order",and then normally the tank does quiet down.
A big factor also, is alot of plants/hidey holes,so that each female does feel protected in her own space.

Good luck, and keep us posted with pics and such. biggrin.gif

Your topic title scared me. laugh.gif

5 bettas is safer that 3 bettas. I think that if you are just getting VTs or some more gentle type of betta than 3 would be ok(but I'm sure you want 5. Who wouldn't! laugh.gif ). CTs and PKs are a little agresseive (or at least mine are). I have a 10 gallon that has 3 CT girls together. There use to be two DTs but they sadly died. Just be prepared that when you get girls they will fight at first and who knows, they may never stop. My girls fought for a couple days. Really bad fighting on the first day but about 1 week later they were a happy family.

Make sure you have LOTS of plants and places to hide. I just went out and bought plants that where for larger tanks and put them in there. My females love them. Hiding spots are a must. My betta seem to really love those rock this that have holes in them so they can swim through them.

If you decide to get one, make sure you tell us! Oooo, and remember we all love pics rofl3.gif
