When i joined I had no idea what a rubbermaid was either. Its a tub other than a tank thats water tight and can house fish temporarily. I assume some are made from rubber but anything that can hold a large amount of water would count. In the UK we call them plastic containers/bins, the type you find in large DIY shops like B&Q and homebase, that you can store stuff in and some have wheels. Its hard though for uk'ers to find anything bigger than 5 gallons but maybe water storage tanks or animal feed bins might come close.

Understandable. I think we tend to use the brand name for something rather than the product name. Like Kleenex, for example.

Yup! "Rubbermaid" is a brand name

But seriously... Rubbermaid makes many of things other than plastic containers, and almost anything they make is very good stuff.

Okay, I could not find it on the site, but Rubbermaid actually makes Koi tanks. While I can't say if that was the original purposes, they sure work well. They're a thick black resin material with a standard garden hose connector and drain on the bottom of the tank. Oval in shape and about 24 inches deep, I've seen models around the 300 gallon mark. I'm told they make larger ones. The goldfish store I buy from uses them to house their Koi.
Thanks,
peter
