:
I got my sparkling gourami today yay! I was going to wait, but I saw a cluster of them at another store today. I only wanted to buy a bit of anubias, but came out with anubias and a fish

: Oddly enough, they were named "sparkling giant gouami". I find that rather strange because they max out at about 1.5", making them one of the smallest members of the gourami family

Oh well. She had kind of a rough ride hom, but she's active now and is acclimating. I just bought a girl betta yesterday too...This will hopefull be my last new fish. My room tanks and care are at a comfortable and satisfied level. Wish me luck!

Yah...no pics. My mom doesn't know where the camera is either, or at least that is what she said. She may be too lazy to really think about or look for it.
My dad took my 10 gallon qt tank for his swimming pool testing, so I had to do with a 3 gallon rubbermaid and nano filter. That filter was supposed to go to my girl betta in a week or so, but she can deal without it. Sparklers aren't the prettiest fish from above, but you guys will definately get photos when she's in the main tank.

I have to say, there is quite a silver lining on my pH problem! I normally have a pH of about 8, but two months ago the water company decided to add CO2 to lower the pH. After the water is taken out of the tap, it slowly rises to 8 over the course of a couple days. I hated this! But now, I'm really starting to see the advantages. The tap water is about 7.5....exactly the reading for most fish stores around here. I hardly had to do much to aclimate my betta yesterday, and I'm just letting my water do it for me. The gourami tank read 6.5. I doubt most fish would do too well going from 6.5 to 8 in a couple hours.
She's really pretty too. Actually I'm not sure of the sex, so I assigned female. The only real way to tell the sex of a sparkler is to shine a flashlight on the other side and look for the outline of an ovarian mass. I don't really want to try that, so girl it is! Even though she's stressed, you can still see all the irridescent spots on her side and her eyes are a bright blue. Very pretty little fish!

Well...here's the closest thing to a photo of sparkle...a photo of her qt tank. Its really just a "thrown together" type thing, but she likes the jungle, especially the floating plants. She's a shy little thing and appreciates the cover.

Come to think of it...it looks a lot like the ACF re-hab tank if you guys remember the poor dears. They found a good home

Yah I think she's either hiding under the floating bonsai branches (the tree I ordered was UGLY, so I took it apart lol) or the amazon plant near the rock. You can't see her, its just a photo of the set up.

I had to cut the qt short by about a week because the new goldfish needed her filter media and I don't want to be tending to 5 tanks anyway. I moved her to the main tank this evening, but I'm worried about the poor thing. Her fins are clamped now and she's not moving a lot...I think she's really stressed about the move. Hopefully she'll settle in and perk up soon. If she does, I'll try to get photos in the next few days.

Im sure she'll come around shortly as long as she has secure places to hide in the main tank. Im excited to see pics of her.

I knowwww I want to turn on the light and look at her but I have to be patient and wait til tomorrow so she won't freak out. She's so sparkly, even without the lights!
The tank has got lots of plants and ornaments to hide in, but not as many as her qt. I think there many have been more plastic plants than water in that one lol. I'm just kinda worried because she's hanging at the top tonight. She didn't do that in her old qt tank.

Sparkle seems to be doing better today

I'm worried about one thing though....
I was watching her and she pooped something red in color and it was enveloped it a clear slime. Wierd?
