i know a post was posted about how to see whether or not they are male or female when you turn them upside down but if i am looking for one in the petstore i cant exactly take them out myself and check so is there an easier way to see under them in the petstores or to tell them apart or do you think the petstore people will do that for me. thanks for any help
P.S. the fish not including the tails are about 2 inches so they are smaller fish but i tried looking with larger fish and couldnt see a difference eather

Its really hard to tell on small goldfish. Larger goldfish its a little easier. Males have an innie butt and girls have an outie. I think females are somewhat harder to come by in petshops as out of 15 goldies I only have 2. smile.gif

Yeah who knows if there are even any females in there. Someone else may be able to help you more but as far as I know thats the only way to tell unless the male has breeding stars at the time.

Yeah, its really tough, especially for smaller fish. And the fact that you can not just pick up the fish an look at their anal areas. Most fish stores do not take well to this kind of stuff. I know - a friend of mine has the very annoying habbit of doing that, and gets more than just the evil eye every time she enters a particular store... laugh.gif
