My new little ranchu chubsey is a bit bigger than my other two fish, and managed to get himself stuck in their little ornament (it looks like a broken terracotta pot with treasure in it). He ripped lots of his scales off struggling to get out as i helped him. i feel so bad that this happened!!!! i have taken the ornament out and made sure that all the others have holes much bigger than him to stop this happening again.

He lost an approx 5mm of scales from his haed, a few from his back and near his tail fin, and a few of his finned have small rips in them.

the hurt bits are white where the scales have come off.

I did a water change and salted the tank 0.1% and i have been a keeping close eye on the water params to make sure it's perfect.

he seems to be ok, and the hurt areas are looking darker in colour. Is there anything else i should be doing??

Poor little guy got all messed up.You're doing good though Kat, with the Pristene water and the bit of salt.Perfect water is always very important in the healing factor. Just keep an eye out for any other odd signs/symptoms-just in case it goes into a secondary infection. Hopefully he'll be back to his old self in no time.

thanks. he was swimming a bit wonky at first, probably from being squshed in the funny shape of the ornament, but he has corrected himself since then and seems fine. if anything else crops up i'll come back here and ask, but fingers crossed he'll heal just fine.
