Yay! Yay! Yay!!!

Welllll looks like i have another wonderful problem to take care of on top of all the others. It seems that since i couldn't quarantine Suzy cause Bubba was occupying the hospital tank, she braught me a nice little present called Lice.

I found 3,one on Suzy, one on Bear and one on Ducky. I have two in a little bottle,i can see one of them swimming around alot and the other one was probably injured when i tried to put it in the bottle with the tweezers, and the other one died cause i squished it by accident.

Soooo i had packages of general cure that i had saved in a droor in case of any deseases. I took each fish one by one and put my big lizard light and went over all of them with tweezers,Bully seemed to be the only one that didnt have anything. Bear had one on his Ventral Fin,Ducky on top of his head and Suzy also. I took all the moon stones out of the tank and made it completly barebottom, then i vacummed the bottom and did a 5o% water change and added my general cure package that treats lice.

I have a few questions

What do i do with the carbon filters,i took them out,do i throw them out??

How do i know when they are fully treated?

I have a bag of Epson Salt bath crystals,is that the same as the epson slat you all talk about?
do i put some of that in there or i just keep on treating with my general cure?

I am a nervous wreck,i must have sweated like I ran a marathon. I was so freaking out about the lice that i forgot that my bucket was almost full and i wen tto the bathroom and came back there was water pouring out of the bucket onto the carpet,at 1st i almost had a heart attack cause i thought the tank was broken and thats why the water was pouring.

I love goldfish soo much and i have never had so many problem happen at the same time that i almost feel like selling everything sad.gif cry3.gif

Yep, leave the carbon out while you're treating, but I think you can put it back in the next day or so once the treatment's run its course and you can clear it out of the water.

I'm not sure about that stuff you've got there, but the Paracide they sell here recommends dosing again 7 days later to be sure there's no reinfestation (ie any new hatchings from possible eggs), and that should get rid of them all for good.

As for the epsom bath salts, you have to be pretty certain they haven't mixed in perfumes or other stuff into it, so it might be a bit risky. Best to use the straight pure stuff they sell at the chemists just to be on the safe side.

Thanks for answering my post,i appreciate it,im fully relaxed lol

i have to do 2 treatments i think again which should last around a week.

So what should i do with the filters in the meantime?

The salt was just used for muscle pains so i dont think there's any perfume in it but ill see.

Hi OrandaBeauty!
I can't help with advice, but I know how you feel when problems multiply. I have 3 tanks and have sickness in all of them. I even overflowed my bucket like you did! I was watching the sickest fish to make sure I didn't suck him up, and I forgot to watch the bucket. The next thing I knew the floor was flooded. krazy.gif

I almost gave up a few days ago, but the people in here kept me going.

Luckily you could see the little buggers that were bothering your fish. I can't imagine holding each of my fish and picking lice off. I can hardley catch mine with a net, let alone my hand. They're too fast for me! And I wouldn't have been able to see what I was doing from all the tears and sweat.

You are one strong mama!!!! thumbs.gif
