Kind of remind me of maggots. I am no expert by any means. Do you have some material decaying in your pond as well?
Speedingorange
in the base of the pond yeah... but i mean thats been there for years... why suddently all decide to hump in the pump? spit.gif

That mouth end.. I think its the mouth end, kinda reminds me of a leatherjacket, I found one in my pond.. but he'd fallen in there. Horrible those are.
What country are you in?
Speedingorange

heartpump.gif Sory, I can't help ya, I have never seen them before, but maggots were the first thing to come to mind! And I think maggots have got to be one of the grosses things out there. I'm not easily grossed out, but they do it for me. yikes.gif
bettaqueen
I was thinking maggots but it could be any kind of bug larvae. If you have decaying matter in your pond as you say flys can smell it for miles away and lay eggs there. The maggots or larvae might have migrated to to pump because there was food for them to live off.
Speedingorange
hmm they may struggle to get to lay eggs... the slime is 5ft in the bottum of the pond...

Idk what to think they are maggots they certainly arnt though
bettaqueen
They could be any kind of bug larvae. The bug could've laid them on the surface and then the larvae could have made their way to the filter in search of a food source
Speedingorange
good point batlady smile.gif
sandy
Maybe some type of water beetle??
Speedingorange
must all be getting high on the formalin lol
Ranchugirl
Whatever it is, I bet your fish will love 'em. Nothing better than "natural foods".... As long as I don't have to eat them.... yuma.gif sneeze.gif
bettaqueen
Why is there formulin in your pond. Are your treating for some illness?
sandy
He is treating his pond for velvet.

Yes, but are you asking them nicely? biggrin.gif
bettaqueen
Ohh that makes sense Sandy. Just could not figure out how he got formalin in there but that explains it.
Erika
THey're not mosquito larvae are they?
Speedingorange
moskito larvae look a lot different though dont they? like a little claw kinda thign going on
bomareed
They look very similar to what i have been getting in my pumps and filter for about two years, mainly in the hot weather. If you don't keep removing them they will very quickly block up the flow pipes that go back into the water. They seem to breed in them best.Theyn hatch into tiny flies inside my filter. So harmless until they block up the pipes.then you have a problem!!
