If you don't have any plain gelatin, would it be safe to use flavoured Jell-O? Some kind of mellow flavour like pineapple or lime? Or would it be best not to risk it and buy some plain gelatin?

I ask because I only want to make a small batch and the little boxes of Jell-O don't make that much.

I wouldn't try that, Anic - just to be on the safe side. The plain gelatin is actually pretty handy, I can get it in a box with 4 little packages. When you only make a small batch, one or two of those packages would be fine. UNLESS of course you only can find those canisters that hold a whole pound of gelatin...
