I have never heard about feeding the whites only the yolks but I don't see why it would hurt.

Feeding egg whites are fine, I did it a couple times and my fish loved it. biggrin.gif Just remember to cut them into bite sized pieces, or sort of squish them to make then easier to eat. Egg whites are more commonly used to feed fish fry, but feeding them to your goldfish would to good too, a source of protein.

I wouldn't feed my goldfish egg yolks though. Egg yolks are rather high in fat and could cause digestive problems for your goldfish. ^^

I have feed them whites before & they liked it! Give 'em a pinch of the yolk too!! I am always chopping & cooking something for my hubby & myself......I usually open the end of my tank's cover so I can drop in a few snacks! if I am chopping veggies I sit aside some for them that I really dice up good. I especially like when I use my electric chopper on veggies cause down at the bottom is veggies REALLY pulverized....I drop that in for a Feeding Frendzy!! I've found they love pieces of tuna (canned in water)! And boiled chicken (stuff I am using on my diet!) If it's healthy for me, they can try it!

Isnt it the egg yolk that is used to feed the fry?

The egg whites are probably o.k. and probably good for them becuase they are high in protein. I do not know about giving them the yolks though because they are high in iron.

I thought that's the case also. Egg yolk is a good substitute for live foods when feeding fry.

Yeah, my fry got their start on egg yolk. Egg yolk has better nutrition than egg whites for the growing babies. Even with the fat I don't see how it could hurt a grown fish if it was only a treat given once in a while. My adult goldies loved the yolk I'd give them when I was feeding it to their babies wink.gif

Yep, Lucy, the egg yolk is the food for the fry. Its easy to make it into a liquidy paste, which would be nearly impossible if we would use egg white. smile.gif

Oh yeah, you don't wanna drop in alot......just a little treat! exactly.gif
