Full Version: Female Convicts In Seperate Tanks

I have two tanks with a female convict in each. They are the same age. Both females have their babies that hatched back in April in with them. The male is in another tank in a totally different room. The females cannot even see him. One female is normal in size and has her orange color on her belly. The other female has gotten rather large in the belly region (not all over) in the last few days. She is almost twice as fat as the other female. The orange coloring on her belly has faded a little. She looks a little distressed, but not pineconing. Water params tested yesterday are ammonia 0, nitrate 0, nitrite 40, ph 7.6 (same as always). I did my weekly 30% water change yesterday. No new fish or plants. I have no clue what could be wrong with her. If needed I can post a picture of each female. I don't mean to sound stupid, but.....could she be carrying eggs without the male around??

She is looking worse so I started a thread in the Tropical Desease Problem forum and I am abandoning this post. Sorry!
