No they just dont like other male bettas or any fish that resemble male bettas. I have housed them with all kinds of other fish(and frogs) an not had a problem.

Sometimes they have problems with femlaes too... but i have a mystery snail and an oto catfish with mine! smile.gif

I think of it this way: Bettas are just really overprotective fathers. (It's the males that care for the eggs and babies.) They want to have the perfect home for their family, with no one else living there, so they chase everyone else away.

I have kept male bettas with small tropicals, tetras, rasboras and that kind of thing without any problem. I think problems arise when you keep them with long finned fish.

Before I found this forum, I kept my bettas in a community tank, but now I have a little 5 gallon set up for a betta. I just need a betta biggrin.gif

yes of course they are but...
there not humain they think alot diffrent
