Peace was fine in my tank until I introduced my new female to the tank.At first Ragman left her alone, then 15mins later he was chasing her all over the tank he was flaring as well.Strange thing was he was also making bubbles at one end of the tank. Also he decided to attack my algae eater who has always been in with him.He actually went into the log where he hides and had a go at him.I have now placed her back in the isolation tank that sits inside the main tank as she is totally stressed out.Can someone tell me what is going on as I dont want her or my algae eater harmed. If worst comes to worst I still have my spare tank for her to live in permanent.

Did somebody tell u that it's ok to keep male & female betta together?
I'm afraid u have to get another tank for the female because male betta to be kept SOLITARY. Ragman was acting like any normal mature male bettas when a female suddenly appear in the tank, to try and mate with her, and after mating, chase her to death.
Male & female cannot be kept together (there are rare cases but very few and far between) and has to be kept in separate containers.
PS: Ragman was chasing the algae eater becoz he didn't want any fish to interfere with him mating.

LFS knew I had a male yet never said anything about keeping them separate.Plus am pretty new to the Betta world.I'll get my spare tank set up for her in meantime I'll keep her where she is.
Thanks d_golem

Well, you're very lucky that Blue Thunder's okay-that was a close call. As for the LFS,most are there to just make a buck, and could care less.Your best bet would be to research anything that you may be interested in first. I can't say that enough.

DO you have any pics of the little girl yet?
