So I decided to restart my little greenwater experiment now that i have a verandah with lots of sun! Well i set up a 20gallon tub, but only filled it to 10gallons so the light would penetrate better.

I check my params on day 3 (today) and my ammonia is 1.0 mg/L and my pH is 8.2-8.4, which means my ammonia is at quite a toxic level. The fish (a hardy feeder type cull) is showing signs of stress, but i really want to keep my greenwater project going!! The water is just starting to turn a cloudy colour (no green yet).

Can i try and buffer the pH or is it ok to do a water change or should i just forget about it alltogether?

Edit: after waiting the whole 5mins for the test to complete (i'm impatient tongue.gif) the ammonia is actually 2mg/L which makes it really bad! The fish is now out and in some clean water... poor darl, i didn't want to hurt him!!
