I thought I would share the wealth

I have been researching planted tanks for awhile now and have found quite a few usefull info on the web.

First off

2 communities that have some helpful people

http://www.aquaticplantcentral.com

http://www.aquaticquotient.com

those sites also have a ton of usefull info in there articles sections. Check it out.

Other more specific stuff

The Bulletproof Planted Aquarium

http://www.aquariumgarden.com/info.php?doc...ulletproof.html

Seems to have some really solid advice.

This site has some pretty good deals on plants, and of particuilar interest on this board, they have special packages for certain kinds of tanks, including Goldfish Tanks.

This site has some really good deals on lights (maybe not the best, but good) , I have found that adequate lighting can easily be the most expensive part of a good planted tank. (well aside from the stuff you need just for tanks in general)

great source of compact florecent lights. one thing about this tho is that they dont sell finished enclosers with the light installed, you would have to install them yourself.

The best two for beginners (at least for me when I started out) are actually personal homepages.

Rex Grigg's Guide to Planted Tanks is straightforward to the point of being blunt, but all excellent advice and tips. Do this, don't do this. This works, this doesn't and is a waste of money.

The other is Chuck's Planted Aquarium Pages. He hasn't updated it for a long while now, but it's all still very helpful and informative. I've linked directly to the page with articles about calculating fertilizers, introduction to substrates, CO2, etc, etc.
