Well today I cleaned out my marine tank to start over.Scrubbed it clean.Got my ocean salt mixed it all up.Now I gotta wait couple of days before I can check the salinity/specific gravity with my hydrometer.Add water conditioner.Then check parameters using my saltwater testing kit few days later.This time making sure we don't have a big problem like the last time smile.gif

Just checked the salinity/specific gravity with my hydrometer.Its spot on within params for tank temp etc.Going to run a test kit tomorrow see how things are in that dept.Hopefully not to long and its going to be operational. smile.gif

Just ran saltwater test kit.Results as follows:

High Range pH = 7.8 Will have to correct this as proper pH should be 8.2 according to test kit.pH being low is brought about by living in a soft water area.

Ammonia = 0 This was expected as tank is empty.

Nitrite = 0

Nitrate = 0

So all is going well.Just need to correct the pH.

Sounds good! What are you putting in this time? Are you going to get more damsels?

Possibilty I may well get those gorgeous little damsels again as they are apparently one of the easiest to keep for beginers to marine fish.
I was reading up on some other marine fish I am definately not going to get starfish or anything like that due to fact that they cannot come into contact with air at anytime during transfer from tank to tank I read how to do it but I think its best to get experience with the keeping of ones that don't need such specialist handling for the time being.

That is a good idea. You could always get a clownfish, too, as they are damsels and are very hardy. Perculas seem relatively easy to come by and as long as you got a small one, it would be okay in that tank for awhile.

Starfish can come into contact with air and it wont hurt them. Mine climbs to the top all the time. At low tide they are usually exposed on rocks, too. I love stars–that was half the reason I set up a marine tank. biggrin.gif
