Are they similar to pink convict chiclids? What is a jellybean?

Yep your part right a JellyBean is a Blood Parrot X pink Convict cross. They get about five inches and really fat.

That mix sound very unusual. I have regular convicts and pink convicts, but I've never seen or heard of a jellybean. I wuold love to see a picture with a side view to see the coloring and if they have any markings.

Ill try to get you one soon. They are white for the most part with a hint of pink but that may change to either more pink or more white as they grow up. No markings.

Oh my goodness!! Your babies are going to be beautiful! Am I correct in thinking that the 5 inches that they will eventually be is from nose to base of the tail (not including the fin)? If that is the case, I may keep some of the hundred baby pink convicts that I have. If they turn out anywhere near as pretty as the jellybeans I wll be happy! Yes..it was definately worth the drive for you. Congratulations.

Pink convicts get 6 inches I beleive but they are a much slimmer fish. If I hadnt of found the Jellybeans that were undyed I would of got the pink convicts.
Convict people dont seem to count the tail when they figure inches. Think it is cause they have short tails. So far they are still alive and well but they dont seem to be staying together much. My pair of parrot fish are chasing them some but the Jellybeans are fast enough to get out of the way. Ill have to keep an eye on them and need to replace some of the rainbows I lost due to my tank over heating while we were on vaction so that they have something else to chase. Not sure if I am going to replace any of the cories. I hate to leave the one alone but I cant have the dithers (rainbows) and the cories that well be to many fish.

Female convicts are smaller, about 4" and males larger, about 6". Fishkeepers often measure their fish fromnow to base of the tail, this is called Standard Length (ST). This is better for measureing aquaria fish because it gives a better idea of how much space a fish takes up and it's mass, the tail does not add much weight. When a fish's entire body is measured this is called Total Length (TL), fishermen often measure by this simply for bragging rights.
Nice jellybeans, glad they aren't dyed. I have never seen them at my LFS but I do have convicts.
