Full Version: Brand New Tank

I just finally got my brand new 10 gallon tank set up. It has a filter and an air thing, a hood and a light. (The filter and light came with the tank, and they work great). At the bottom of the tank there's some whitish gravel. As for the rest of his tank.... Well, there's only one plant (not sure what it's called) and a sign that says "Caution, Killer Goldfish". Also there's a background we taped to the back of the tank, but the man who cut it cut it too small so we'll need to get a new one (and I don't like the background afterall).

So does anybody have suggestions on what else I should put in it? Any kinds of hiding spots goldfish like? Plants that are good for them? Anything low budget is nice... since my mom refuses to spend anymore on my tank.

Here's a picture of the tank. As you can see it's pretty sparce.

Oh yeah, just to let you know although it's in front of a window, no light comes in through that window, ever.

I usually put some nice bushy plants in to give hiding places for my fish in case of bullying.Real plants are also a good idea as goldies like to nibble on them.I suggest you have a look in the plant forum on here so you can find out about suitable plants. Also when it comes to tanks often less is more as your goldies need space to move around so you don't want to put too much in.Since your tank is only a 10 Gallon it is only suitable to hold one Goldfish.

I usualy bunch anacarus around the intakes to hide them and extend the intake all the way to the bottom so that it picks up the poo at the bottom, very nice setup though!
