I have the Emporer 400 bio wheel filtration along with an Aqua tech for 55 gallons. If on the box for the Emporer it says that it moves 400 gph would the aquatech only move 55? I don't have the box for it so I'm unsure. Is this enough for healthy fish? One more question. I removed all the carbon from the cartridges. In the Emporer I loaded the 2 clamshell baskets with ceramic cylinders. On the Aqua tech I use to have those white filters they said never needed changing but after I moved I was worried they could have went bad so I chucked them and now can't find replacement for them. Now for the question, should I put some ceramic cylinders in there? The things that store good bacteria are always put in behind cartridges that catch the junk right? I doubt I will find anything that are meant for this filter so in switching brands is there anything shaped comparable that could fit or should I just get a baggy of cylinders and wedge it in there?
On a happy note! Good news for those who have been helping me cycle my tank. My levels are starting to balance and not sky rocket every time I turn around!! YAY!!!! I was so nervous, but I tried to remember it is as simple as a good test kit (for those starting out just like me, the test kit really is crucial, not the strips!!!), and be ready for a water change. Thank God for the Python. Thank you thank you for you who have helped me.
Oh, here is another thought. When I went to buy the ceramic cylinders for good bacteria I accidentally bought the ones that catch waste. Of course I returned them for the right ones but now I sit here and think should I have those too to catch waste? The more waste caught the better? Or are the blue floss cartridges sufficient?
