Okay, Devs has been buggin me for awhile, so I just got done with the cat tails and snapped some pics....enjoy! Oh, and if anyone has any ideas for hiding the big rubbermaid filter I have next to the pond, lemme know!

Some of the kids..........

Close up of the cat tails.......

The other plants are a lilly, some water lettuce, a hyacinth (it's dying!) and a lizard's tail.

Oh, it's beautiful! Geat job. You did yourself proud. I was thinking at first a flowering shrub of some sort in front of the filter but no might get too big. I wonder if you built a wood box around the filter and maybe planted a lotus in a pot and set it in your filter? Might look cool? I can't really think of anything.

Beautiful Erika! Youve made me jealous.

How about planting something around the Rubbermaid?

Thank you Scott, Thank you Erin!!!
I think I'm going to do something like what you guys said...... something needs to be planted or represented in some way. I never thought about building a box though........ hmm............... and I've wanted a lotus........LOL.
My dad said "Why don't you get some of that expandable foam and make a big lump of it, then hollow it out, texture it and then paint it so it looks like a rock and then cover the filter?" Sounds good, but also sounds like a lot of friggin work!!!

Thats awsome.
I wish I could convince mom to let me make a tiney pond like that, but we have no electrical outlets on the outside of the house. (Who ever designed this place was an idiot)
How many Gallons is that?
For the tub, I'd have to go with the others and say a plant of some kind.
Or a random garden statue, or both.

It's about 250 gallons.... it's small, but deep. There's a shallow shelf where I keep my potted plants and it's where the fish like to sleep. During the day though, they're all over the place.
Devs~ George moved back in today.

It really turned out nice Erika!

I really like the Cat Tail's in there too. They look nice.
Your dad's idea sounds like it'd work for the filter...But yeah a lot of work..Make Dad do it..heheheh. I think the idea that Scott has would be perfect and not too much work, I was thinking along those same lines of just getting some wood and whipping something up that way. You could paint it all pretty too.
Looks Great! I'd love to see it in person though!!!!!!

That looks so great!! Really puts my 30 gallon Rubbermaid to shame.
I would definitely plant something around the filter. What, I don't know, but something will look nice. I like the idea of growing an aquatic plant out of it too.
Do you have anything to deter predators? Do you have cats or birds or anythign that can get to them?
Erika

Suprisingly, we don't have anything that will go after the fish. Our yard is completely privacy fenced in, and I know that animals could climb it, but we seriously have never seen a raccoon or anything. It's pretty deep and has lots of cover, so that if something DID try to get the fish, they'd find it impossible.

Cool!
I'll race you both - if I can pick the road. Here's my ride at a cushy rest stop.

Let me know when you come to So Cal to party. I want to watch. I'll even buy the drinks for the entertainment value.
Strange twist for this thread - considering it started in a pond.

It's an XC all wheel drive. You should see the astounded looks I get from the guys in jacked up trucks when I'm way out in the desert, or as I drive past the stuck 4x4's in frame deep snow.
It goes anywhere - and never gets stuck. Yet - but I'll keep trying.

Joshua Tree baby! Far end of Geology Tour Road.
Just a pleasant drive for the XC. Put a U2 CD in the changer and crank up the volume - you can hardly hear the ruts in the road.
