Full Version: Aaaaaaaaahhhh Why Has My Cycle Crashed?
Forum > The Goldfish Topics > Goldfish Tanks > Water problems? Questions about water quality?

As you all know, I am trying to move my fish into a 55 gallon, and move the cycle over there. Well, one of my fish appeared with two splits in his/her dorsal fin overnight so I tested the water this afternoon and all of a sudden I have nitrites at .25!

My tank has been cycled for 7 months with testing done every third day and params have always been fine except for maybe high nitrates, which is why I do frequent water changes. I have not even touched my filter for two weeks since I am trying to get them as built up as possible so I can move one to the new tank. I have bags of ceramic cylinders in the tank too, trying to build bacteria, plus two Bio-wheels floating around. But that shouldn't affect the current cycle right?

I have a thread going in Diagnosis because of the split fin, darn, darn, darn!

Why is this happening to me? krazy.gif Is this going to affect my moving the cycle over? Aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Ok, i am way embarrassed. i rechecked the test and got 0. Retested again and got 0. I think i might've messed something up the first time! So I will check again in an hour and see where it is and let you all know...I will feel so dumb if I screwed up the test! But happy and relieved if my tank is still cycled.
