I went to Petsmart today..just to look at fish, not to buy anything....... and guess what I found! The manager of the store was in the fish department when I was looking at the 20 longs and overheard me talking to my husband. She got my attention and told me about the clearance tanks that the store was not going to carry anymore. She showed me an Oceanic 37 show tank for $100 dollars and a matching stand for $109. I told her that those were a little (alot) out of my price range. She said that she would give them to me for half price. I know Oceanics are pricey so I asked what price might that be and she said half of the sale price. I couln't believe it! I had to ask again to make sure!! I got the stand, tank, glass top and light for $100 including tax!! YAY me!!! Now all I have to do is think of what to put in it!

Oh my, that is a really good deal. You walked in at a perfect time I guess. Its nice when a store offers a deal like that. It does not happen very often, not around here anyhow.
Congrats on your new tank and lets see some pics.

Congratulations! Sounds like a real bargain

I never seem to be in the right place at the right time like that. I'm not a very good bargain hunter at all. I usually end up paying a price I think is good, but later find out is average
I'm not familiar with that range, what size is it? 20 gals?
Anyway, sounds very exciting. Have you decided whats going in it yet?

I have not decided what is going in it or where I am going to put it. I have run out of room and it is sitting empty in my living room at the moment. The stand sitting next to it I got for 70% off also. They didn't have a tank to go with that one, but a ten gallon fits just perfect on it. If I can find square 20 gallon that is astually what it is made for. Hope this link works. I just joined photobucket and I am still trying to see if I am using it correctly.

Yeah! The size I got was the 40 gallon square, but I think it is really only 37 gallons hence the name "Oceanic 37". I don't know what to put in it, but I saw two very pretty Zebra Oscars that I want to get and I can move fish around and put them in my 125. The manager of the pet store tried to tell me that they were tiger oscars, but they didn't look like any I have seen. I looked on the internet and found out what they really are. They are beautiful! Does any one here have any experience with Oscars?? I know they get very large, but other than that I don't know much about them. By the way, the tank was originally over $200 and the stand was $169 so I think I made out pretty well.

I have not decided what to put in the tank yet! It is sitting empty in my living room! Any ideas? By the way, disaster999, the sale tags said the same thing at my petsmart, but I grew up in a large family and am use to asking for deals, so I asked the manager if they had any discontinued or clearance items. She pointed to those gave me a price and the rest is history. She said that they were last years model and Petsmart wanted to get in new models. Great for me I guess. The fish don't care what model they are in and I got a great deal for once! You should ask the manager of the fish department about the ones you saw. You may get the same deal.

Well of course Id put goldies in it if it were mine. But planting it up and putting some pretty tropicals in it would be beautiful as well!

OK.. found what to put in my new tank..until they get bigger that is. My husband fell in love with them as soon as we saw them (and he is not a fish person!) I saw them a few weeks ago and have always wanted some, but haven't really found one that really appealed to me until I saw this type! I have always wanted them, but needed someone brave to help me!! Of course they will only stay in this tank for a little while and then I will have to get something new for his tank and move them to a larger one (which I already have). Can anyone guess what they are??
