Had my tank running for 3 weeks, just added fish on Monday. Already did a water change yesterday as Nitrite level was 2 (ammonia level 0.10-0.25). However, Nitrite level is back up to 2 today (ammonia 0.10). Now I know this is perfectly normal at the start of a cycle, however, not sure whether I should keep changing the water every day or so till the Nitrite goes down a little??? Or is this ok till the cycle establishes?

Oh, and one more quessie...what does that 'warn' thingy mean under my name/details etc? I'm confused! lol

I've left the water as it is but am unsure...do you recommend I do a change before I go to work? The fish seem fine, just not sure whether that level of Nitrite is ideal, even in a new aquarium. Any advice would help peeps x

Yes to a waterchange and a real big one. If the nitrites get anywhere over 0.25, it can kill a less hardy fish so I would aim to do as many waterchanges as it takes to get them to 0.25. This may mean changing their water daily but in the long run, it will most likely save your fish smile.gif

One thing I would consider doing is adding 1 teapsoon of sea, rock or aquarium salt to the tank as it helps your fish breath during the nitrite phase of cycling.
