Ponderosa Power
After my tap pH dropped I ordered the ap kH and gH tests. The pH goes back up if left out for a few days so we think its CO2 in the water.

Now...I did a test earlier today and my kH turned out to be 8, or 148ish ppms. According to the mardel test I had a while ago, it used to be over 300. Is my kH too low now?

Also a side note..I also ordered Flourish excell organic carbon for my planted tank. Will this mess with the pH?

I can't help you, but curious to see what others say. And I think you are lucky, lol, my kh reads at 0! Stupid city tapwater...did you ever find out why your tap ph changed?

I hope you get your ph problem figured out, mine is ok with the crushed coral in the filters, but I have to change it every 8 weeks or so, it seems to "wear out" what it does, and even when it is working my kh only gets to 80-100 ppms, but that *seems* to be enough to keep my ph stable. So that is why I want to hear what people reply to your situation.

Good luck!

I hate all this pH stuff, I want it to be stable again. Some members think that the water company purposefully lowered the kH and pH (pH with CO2) for the public. I have to agree because I've been monitering the tap and it starts to rise a little bit, then drops back down to 7.5ish. My pH is usually arou 7.9-8.2, and the kH over 300. I also remember taking a look at the water company's "analysis" of what our tap water should be like and it said similar readings to what I have now. They probably just slacked off for a year and a half or something. I was fine with their slacking off!!! I'm sorry you have to deal with such a low kH Jen. I guess its better that mine is higher and that mine rises instead of falls after time like yours.

I've got more little water quality questions so I think I'll post more threads smile.gif
