I recently took up the idea of building a pond for an environmental project, and as a result fell completely in love with goldfish! I recently set up a tank in my bedroom with three juvinile black moors (they were so cute how could I resist!) And went overboard in setting up a tank. (uh over 100 dollars on a 10 gallon aquarium for three fish) I purchased an 18 inch bubble wall because I have been told goldfish need lots of oxygen (I strongly advise anyone using an areator to purchase an anti siphon valve for saftey purpouses) the problem is that I am afraid the current is too strong for the little moors, (althogh they seem to have made up a game of swimming in the bubbles) How do you know if the current caused is too strong and how do you correct this while still providing lots of oxygen to the fish?

And yes I am aware of the 10 per fish rule, These moors are tiny now and I will be purchasing a larger tank in a few months, so it is a temporary situation.

Good to hear that u know the 10 gal/fish rule. 3 adult moors in a 10 gal is just sad.
Oxygen is dissolved in the water not by the amount of bubbles in the water, but rather by the water surface agitation caused by the bubbles when it breaks the surface, so I think the 18-inch bubble wall might be a little too much for the small 10-gal.
Do you have a filter in the tank? An established filter is much more important than a bubble wall. The filter must be able to filter 10x tank volume/hour (so in your case it's minimum of 100gal/hour and ur gonna need it cos ur overstocked already).
IMO it's better if u can get a much bigger tank sooner rather than later. Young goldfish grows really fast in the first few months. You don't want to compromise their growth rate, do you?

No I dont lol, The small tank was actualy a rescue for the pond fish, the pond crashed so I had to get something to keep them in while we restarted the pond, (I get my paycheck this week, so I was low on funds at the time) (this time it shall cycle perfectly! mwhahha) unfortunately a great deal of the things i know now I didnt know when I started. . . . Yes I have the filter, and it is listed for a ten gallon aqairum, whooo! idea! I noticed a few articles about rubermaid tubs serving as temporary holding facilities for fishies! would setting up that as a tank/pond be effective, untill a prettyer more expensive solution is reached (cant picture pond fish now of 3" in tank with baby moors)

you said its the disruptuion at the top not the bubbles underwater that helps the airation right? I discovered if I moved the bubble curtan to just under the water surface I dont have the current hardly at all
