Are clown loaches compatible with goldfish? (a bubble eye or the kind with the caps). I'm going to put real plants in my tank when we get it set up and every time we've done that with our big aquarium we get a bunch of snails suddenly, and once we got clown loaches in the tank all the snails were gone. In case my goldfish tank would get infected with snails would putting clown loaches in be a good or bad idea?

How big is your tank?
Thats the first thing to be considered.

Clown Loaches are scaleless fish, they also require temps in the 78-80F, they love to eat snails and shouldn't be placed in with goldfish since goldfish are very messy fish and Clown fish are very sensitive to there water environment

Alright, thankyou.
So then would there be any other small tankmate I could put in a ten gallon tank with a fancy goldfish?

yah in a ten gallon its a max with your goldfish. it would be a really bad idea to put anyother fish(goldfish or not) in the tank. just watch your guy get big!

I had to trade in my clowns a couple days ago. One of them just would not leave the gold fish alone. He wasn't really hurting them, but he was stressing them by chasing them constantly. He wouldn't let them eat and that was the last straw.

Always check before adding fish together! Some are warm water, some cold water, some salt water...etc. Usually a quick search on the internet will give you the answer!

I had considered clowns but this stopped me (I have 2 goldies, a black moor and a regular doubletail) Thank you so much for putting this here.

I know this is old, but since its a sticky...
One other thing is that clown loaches get to a foot long, they need to be in schools of six or more, and hence need a very large tank.

Absolutely right avalon. If you want Clown Loaches, you really need a tropical tank, and a big one at that. If you don't want a snail problem don't put more than one in your tank. I added a single snail. It made an egg nest on the first day. I took it out, and none since. No snail problem.
