Well I was at a festival tonight and I won a goldfish. I knwo it's a bad place to get one but they were so cute... and none of the fish in the tank were dead, so I imagine that my fish is relatively healthy.
Right now I have him in a plastic fishbowl with some rocks and a sign. I put a little salt in the water (my mom says it's good for them, I guess), but I'm not sure if this is a good place for a goldfish. I don't have a bubble thing for him. I was wondering if this tank is a good tank for a goldfish (and maybe a few others)

I'm not sure if this tank is too small or not, but is this a good design for a goldfish? The one I have is about.... two or three inches long, so how many gallons should I have if I want to put it with maybe one or two other fish?

smile.gif Hi kayla, welcome to our forum. Unfortunately,a bowl is too small-as is the fishtank that you posted.Chances are that the fish you won is a Comet or Common.Recommended tank size for those types of Goldfish are between 15 and 20 gals. per fish,as they get pretty big and are long, sleek, fast swimmer's.
Check out this article,it will give you basic care for a Goldfish. smile.gif http://www.kokosgoldfish.com/tensteps.html

Kayla,I think that the Fish tank you showed would not be good for your fish.I would encourage a more square tank, minimum 5 gallons.Avoid that one tank like the plague.

Devs is correct . Please get your fish a bigger tank not a a small 1 gallon tank . get at least 10 gallons per goldfish . 5 gals as winston suggested is also way to little. Devs is pretty knowaledgable . Welcome to Kokos. And that was good of you to rescue that goldie from the fair

Hi and Welcome! As they said above a bigger tank is reccomended. But if you are short on cash a big 20 gallon tub will suffice untill you are able to get a tank for Him/Her and they only run about $10-$15 at the most. A filter would be good and you can find them cheap too, at your LFS or a Wallyworld if you have one. Congratz on your New Fishy! Did you name him/her yet?

P.S. If your wanting to get a couple more fish then you need to have at least 15gallons per fish so a 50 gallon would be best for 3 fish.
