I recently got LOTS of live plants for my fishies' tank. I planted anubias, swords, crypts, anacharis, and an onion plant. They love it! Thanks to this site, I was able to pick some plants that stand a good chance of coexisting with my fish. So far, they've sampled most of the plants, but since there's so many, no particular plant takes too much damage. They are so cute together. All day long they swim together "inspecting" the plants to see if they can get any nibbles biggrin.gif My fishies will never be bored again!

They are definitely getting more plant matter in their diets now. Since they are both still fairly small (2 inches plus tail), should I shift their diet to include more protein than before I got the plants? Before, I fed Pro-Gold as a staple with Omega-One pellets, spirulina, Seafood Flakes, frozen mysis and brine shrimp, homemade gel food, and of course PEAS. I will still keep Pro-Gold as their staple food, but should I give shrimp more often now? I want to make sure they get enough protein so that they can grow. Omega-One pellets only have 33% protein, which I understand to be more ideal for older fish.

By the way, is it possible for goldies in planted tanks to overeat (from the plants)? I've always been concerned about overfeeding, and now they have food in their tank all the time. I guess since it's plant matter, they won't get constipated from it...?

IMO, it's ok to keep feeding what ur feeding them. Extra veggies from the plants are good, but no reason to change their usual feeding pattern wink.gif
