Fish bowl and filter

This is just under 2 gallons. Its a sponge filter.
Would this work as a betta set up?
Would I be better off without the filter?
It's got a lid, but is plastic, and maybe dangerous to heat.
Just stewing. I really want one now that I've been thinking about it.
Oh, one more thing.
Is the top of the water to agitated for a betta?

That looks like it would work, just make sure you leave as much surface area as you can because bettas like to take a gulp of air now and then. The betta would prolly prefer not to have the surface aggitated ans not to have the filter but unless you're willing to do extra water changes you might need it smile.gif Just make sure its not very powerful and your betta should be happy

Its not very powerfull at all.
I actualy got pretty frustraited with it, before Koko's.
It wasn't good enough for that bowl with 12 goldfish in it. (Highschool carnival hell)
No surprise there, but it dosn't even move around the debrie in the gravle.
For that reason, I was thinking of actualy taking the gravle out, and having two flat rocks hold the plant in place. Or alternately, proping one on the other because I hear bettas like caves?

Anywho.
Its running in my 10 Goldfish tank at the moment, untill I do get a resident for the bowl.
Said resident could move into the 10 gallon when I upgrade for my commet.

I had also heard Bettas like 'Java Moss'
Any experience with that anyone?
