Full Version: Resting Aponogetons

Ponderosa Power
I have a couple aponogetons and I would like to know how to properly rest them and when the best time is. I heard the best time is a few weeks after the last flower. For one of mine (crispus) it is that time. Its bulb feels empty and squishy now. The second one is a runt and got a late start on like. I was about to chuck it out because it wasn't doing too well but I left it in and gave it a second chance. It isn't doing great, but is much better than before and now has some nice roots and small leaves. It has never flowered or grown much. The bulb is still hard like it has nutrients or something left.

You don't seem to find to much info on them around. From what I read ,
With the ones that are growing-- if the top dies off take the bulb out of the water and let it dry for a few weeks then try putting it back in the tank.
I also remember a guy saying that his die down for a few months and then just start up again??? unsure.gif
I would think that the bulb would either go mushy or just completely die off if you just left it in the water. when I had them in the past,at that time,I wasn't aware that they even had a "Resting time".I use to just pitch them and buy new ones. laugh.gif
