I have silk plants in my aquariums but I have become concerned about one thing. I have noticed the wire edges at the bottom of the plant base often look rusty. Are they unsafe to use or with the large water changes I do on my GF tanks enough to keep that from causing harm?

I have quite a few silk plants but haven't had that experience. Did you get your plants from a pet store or a general store. Silk plants for aquariums shouldn't have metal in them.

They are all from the pet store. I just pulled one of mine apart and I am happy to say you are right! The ends on mine turned brown at the bottom of the base but it is just built up stuff on the plastic. I thought it was a thin wire inside the stems that kept it more rigid that was rusting. What a dummy!!!

You're not a dummy, we all learn by experience. I'm glad you haven't got rust problems anyhow.

Me too! I was getting worried about throwing all that money out if I had to get rid of the plants.
