i'm having a look online at pond cover nets, so far i've seen that you can get a clear or black mesh, which would be the best colour to go for? i'll only be using the net when i'm not at home and during the night but don't want it to be really noticible. I'm going to have underwater lighting on for a couple of hours in the evening so i don't want the mesh to show up if it's over the pond while the lights are on.
Thanks

I have black over mine and surprisingly, its not as noticeable as you'd think. Ive never seen the clear but that might work well, too.
Its a great idea covering your pond when you're not going to be around. I (and others around here) have lost so many fish to birds.

Thanks for your reply, i wasn't aware you could get a clear net either, so i may go for that as you'd imagine it would look invisible!

how deep was your pond again? I can't remember but the depth should rule out most predators. Some of those pond nets really aren't that great. I have no advice for you on that but can tell you that I bought a pond net and it was a pain to put on and take off. I found that the best thing to use was shade cloth, like what you'd see in a green house. Of course it's a shade cloth so your not no going to see your fish through it. The thing I like about it is it is easier to put on and take off, plus is much easier to clean.

Sorry Scott, i didn't notice your reply until now! the pond is 3ft deep in the center, working up to about 1-1/5 ft deep at the shallower ends. I've actually just received my clear pond net today...it's really just intended for use when i'm not there, and as i have two electronic cat deterants in the garden as it is which do a very good job at keeping the neighbours cats out of our garden so i may not need the net that often. I can imagine what a pain they are to use and i won't want my pond looking messy because of a net, so i'll let you's know how i find it!
