Has anyone noticed their bettas having reactions to certain colors? Whenever my Red sees something that is either lime green or turquoise he flips out! He flares at it until it is out of site. If it moves around so that its still visible, he will back away and then zip away and hide behind a plant in his tank.
I only noticed this b/c I often put my finger or whatever I am holding up to the tank and he follows it around. One day I did it with the tip of a lime green pen and he freaked out. Then yesterday I had a turquoise bandaid on my finger and he started flaring at me, I had no idea why until I looked at my hand. He wouldn't even take food from me, I had to switch and use my other hand.
Just curious if anyone else noticed any color reactions.

Thats really odd! I think most fish see reds and oranges better than greens and blues. That's why people use those colors for fishing bait.

I thought it was odd too... but lime green just sends him over the edge! He is such a strange little betta....

I have not noticed this with my betta, but I used to have a veiled chameleon that loved it when I wore orange or blue. He would crawl on me and and display the prettiest colors, but you could tell it wasn't in anger. He was super calm and always relaxed. He hated spots or patterns, tho. I guess it's just whatever their little minds are programmed to freak out about. I know when I see something with more than four legs I go nuts, so...

Well, if I can't be informative I will at least try to be entertaining.

LOL! Its all good. This just reinforced a fact that I already knew - Red is by far the most bizarre betta in the whole wide world!!
