Now that I have my 20gal for my goldfish I have one 10gal that needs some new babies! (my other 10gal is the quarantine tank) I don't want to put another goldfish in there, I feel so bad when they are all alone. I want to have multiple fish in the tank so Im looking for some suggestions. I hear you can have more then one guppie in a 10 gallon, or Mollies but Im not sure how reliable that is. I like the fish with the Mickey Mouse heads on their tails but I can't remember their names to look them up! Im helpless I know rolleyes.gif

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Micky mouse platies. Spelling might be wrong but you can figure it out.
A school of white cloud fish would be great. Tetras the small ones. Danios once again the small ones.
I completely understand about not wanting the goldfish in there. Not really enough room anyway.
Oh and you can keep some of them cute ghost shrimps or if you feel adventurous how about some of them tiny dwarf puffers.
Sorry for all the bad spelling.
Good luck planning a new tank is just so much fun.

did you want marine or tropical?
Kasper
Honesty Im up for just about anything. Im thinking about maybe getting a couple of newts, or frogs, but Im leaning twoards fish.

Marine is the freshwater right? Im so ignorant on any fish besides goldies, and even with them sometimes I have to look up stuff! So Im going to say anytype of Freshwater fish would be ok, Im not sure I want to mess with salt water fish.

Thanks for the suggestions Hidr! I spent a couple of hours looking up the fish you reccomended, those puffers are so CUTE! Or maybe the whitecloud fish... Im off for more reasearch!

Thanks!
Keep em coming!

i personally really like white clouds! I would go with some of them as i have some and they are great! (my first fish btw) they seem real active and fun to watch! they will eat watever i give them and they look real good under a light. Thats just my thought but im sure people will have many more suggestions! biggrin.gif

Hey if you guys are going to keep moving my threads will you please tell me where and why?

Sorry Im not in the right place.

You need to decide what type of tank youa re wanting and then your thread wont keep getting moved.
Are you going for a heated tank or cooler tank? Whiteclouds are a nice coolwater tank but puffers need to be on their own and some prefer salt in the tank making them more brackish than fresh. marine fish are totally salt water fish.
For a tropical tank you could try a pair of dwarf gourami.
Kasper
Ahh I see.
Well Im not sure what Kind of tank I want to go for. I was just looking for suggestions. I don't have a heater so a cool tank would probably be better.

Thanks Iain for the suggestion, I'll look them up! =D

To clear up the confusion:

Freshwater: no salt

Tropical: warm freshwater (tetras, platies, gouramis, etc)

Coldwater: cold freshwater (carp, danios, white cloud minnows, etc)

Marine: Saltwater, ocean ( tangs, clownfish, damsels, etc)

Brackish: a mix between freshwater and saltwater (gobies, dwarf puffers, etc)

Thank you Kissy.

What I would do with a unheated tank without goldfish. Is to try guppies or white clouds maybe both. Or I might try a native fish but most are too big for a ten gallon

and if you did decide you wanted it saltwater, dont ever let someone tell you its too small. because its not. i mean you could set up a nano tank, with a damsel in it but not much else. maybe abit of live rock. ive never done it, but ive seen tanks as small as 5 gallons set up saltwater. basically what i was told is less than 55 gallons, the smaller you go, the harder it is.

glad you like my idea of the minnows. They are really good for coldwater and you should especially find some pics of them flaring up during breeding! they really are easy to look after and you could have quite a few in your 10gal! I hope you decide soon biggrin.gif

hehe trust you iain to be promoting white clouds!!! You're right tho. they r such cool little fish. they've got such good characters, I just moved mine from the living room to my bedroom desk and i never noticed all the cute little things they do. they r little weirdos hehe! and they are fantastically coloured under a good light.

so basically: i agree with iain, minnows wld be good in your tank. they would be especially happy in a big group in your 10gal.

good luck deciding what to do smile.gif

hi
Kristi
Rosy red minnows are a good choice. They are cheap feeder fish but make great pets, too. They are freshwater and like cool temps. I have 3--2 pink and 1 grey. They are also cute to watch--two of them always mix with their other tankmates and get their share of food at feeding time. The other one is a bit shy--he hangs more around the plants or behind a rock and kinda cocks his head to look up for food and see if it's safe to go eat!
