Kasper
Ok, so I would like to get some live plants to put into my tank. I looked it up on here and saw all the different plant that I could have, but I still have some questions. I may have overlooked it on the site but, If I got a plant can I just put it in the tank or do I have to cycle the tank over again with out the fish In order to have a live plant? Should I Quarantine it and put meds in, In the plant Tank at my LFS there are live Koi in there with the plants, and if they are sick would that transfer to my fishies? I Did ask the guy at the fish store and he said that I would have to wait 3 months before I put the fish in there with the plant because if it was not rooted then they would eat it, or something like that. I see in a lot of pictures that you guys just put them in a regular plant pot and let them sit in there like that.

If anyone has any advice I would greatly appriciate it. Sorry if this info is on the site, I was on here for a long while last night and I coulden't find anything.

Thanks
Kel

We put our new plants in the QT tank for a couple of days. Mainly so we know they are snail free. Then we toss them in the tank - burry them a bit in the stones

We have a moderatly planted tank with our goldies and we find that we have very low nitrate readings (with ammonia and nitrites also being zero). We also have a wide range of plants and so far, none of our fancies has chowed down on anything. They swim through, around and what not, but don't seem to munch on anything

This is a pic from a few weeks ago, we've since added a couple more plants

i would rinse them with warm water, almost hot, and pick off any snails you see. get back to us if snails become a problem in your tank wink.gif
