Anyone feed broccoli or carrots to their goldies? I steam both kinds of veggie regularly for my veiled chameleon and wondered how to best prepare them for my goldies. Thanks!

My goldies have never really gone for carrots. I have microwaved them a few times until soft but they remain uneaten. Other people seem to have better luck.
I'm really wary of feeding broccoli (even to humans) because it almost impossible to wash off all the pesticides, fungicides, etc, due to hundreds of small green stems (what do you call them?). We were speaking of filter media earlier on, imagine the surface area for chemicals to reside on a broccoli!

Even out in the middle of no-place USA, where I live, the larger grocery stores carry organic broccoli. I just break off a appropriate sized floret, rinse it in some tap water, nuke it for one minute in the microwave in some tank water then put it in a veggie clip and hang it in the tank. My goldfish get fed broccoli at least twice a week and they just love it. They're really cute nibbling off the little flower buds.
I've put baby food carrots in get food and the fish ate it, but they won't touch carrots any other way.

I have not tried the carrots but have tried the broccoli and my fish did not touch it. I could not get them to eat oranges as well. However like most goldies they love peas. I will have to experiment with carrots. You can try checking local grocery store out to see if they have an organic veggie section. Mine does, and if they do you might want to try getting your veggies there because they are not exposed to pesticides and probably safer for the fish. They might be a little bit more pricey but worth it.

I feed organic peas and I would probably get organic frozen broccoli, too. Since it's garden growing time of year I feed from the garden when I can, I know what plants are safe to feed and which ones to stay away from.

Mine love broccoli, although I hardly feed it because I hate the stuff! LOL. Ill go to the store and by it just for them, and usually I forget to buy it so they dont get it often. I boil it and let it cool before giving it to them. Wouldnt boiling it kind of be like a super clean and get rid of the pesticide issue? I really didnt ever think about that...

Broccoli is one of the truly "Super Foods" here on this Earth. Broccoli, Cabbage, Brussels Sprouts, Cauliflower are all included in this category. I eat TONS of the stuff - and love it.
I like to hang a steamed bit in the tank. I steam it and chop it and they eat the pieces. I also add it into each and every batch of gel food.
I buy organic, too, or grow my own.

I might try some gel food, that way I know they will be getting some in them and it won't be messing up the tank.
