Here's a photo of one of my flowers. I bought this aponogeton in a pack of bulbs and its really taken off, and taken over my tank too wink.gif This is like the 6th flower its made, and I finally got a decent shot. Enjoy!

That's pretty Kissy! I have been meaning to look for some bulbs but I always forget dry.gif Where do you get yours?
Ponderosa Power
I got a pack of five from one of those "gorw your own live aquarium plants-aponogeton variety packs" packages. The ones at the petstores looked like shriveled prunes so i took my chances and ordered online at petco. I was very happy with how they looked! All five sprouted, but only 2 did well. 3 were actually red tiger lotuses (my one is doing great) and 2 aponogeton crispuses. The second one has some kinda sickly leaves and a few roots. I don't know if it will make it but I'm trying!

Sorry for the haziness in the photo. I took it thru the glass and calcium deposit build up. rolleyes.gif

1/2 of the flowers got nipped by my tetras so the ended up with only one 1/2 a flower, or they were drowned under the water. This one turned out very nice and grew to be about 2.5" tall above water.

Mine just shot up like it was going to bloom, then made a pad on the surface of the water. I have two aponogeton pads floating in my water. biggrin.gif

nice... hehe i remember you complaining about how they falsely (sp?) advertised for i think it was 6 bulbs or so? and you got less. hehe. biggrin.gif glad to hear you got some of them a-growin!

Hey lady, you've probably got a lotus of some sort. The package says "Assorted Aponogeton" but its really a complete mix of bulbs. In my package, 3 out of the 5 bulbs I got were actually red tiger lotuses....which I think are even prettier. Here's mine shooting up a lily pad:

If this is what you have, it will keep continuing to shoot up lily pads and no new leaves. I heard that if you want it to grow bushy, you should cut the pads off as close to the main plant as you can. I've been trying but I keep getting more pads. I think it may be because I don't have a CO2 system and by having lily pads at the surface they are able to get more CO2. Not really sure though, just my guess smile.gif

No, mine looks just like the aponogeton plant that just flowered in my tank. I like that red lotus! Very pretty! When I get home from work I will try to take pics and post.

Yea...I finally found some bulbs! Now, do you just drop them in? Do you have to clean them with anything 1st? blink.gif

I recently had some Crispus flowers too Kissy, and they ended up going to seed which I wasn't expecting at all!

This pic is looking straight down (see the snails on the its leaves down below? wink.gif). The bigger (blurred) stalk coming in from the left has already gone to seed and you can see the husks floating on the surface at the bottom and the right of the pic, while the stalk in the middle is just starting to form seed pods from it's old flowers.

Once the seeds pop out of their husks, they are bright green and sink to the bottom.

And then start sprouting (even if they land the wrong way up!) in amongst the grass and snail skeletons. smile.gif
