Well, I gave my 2.5 gallon tank to my 15 yr old brother. He decorated it with the most beautiful dark blue gravel from Petsmart. There are several plastic and silk plants and a delightful little cave. He also bought a mini siphon and large bucket.

He also has a Tetra Whisperer internal 3 gallon filter.

He got a betta that is mainly blue but with bright red streaks on his tail. newfish.gif

The food of choice was the Hikari betta bits or whatever. I can't remember what kind of water conditioner he picked up off the top of my head. (I live at school, so I can't go check...)

Anyway... my four year old brother got to name the fish...

"Mr. Jingles-Spiderman"

He seems really excited though (Mr. J-S) He was swimming around and playing in the plants and going through the cave shortly after being put in his new home. He looked a lot more active than the betta one of my school friend's has, which lives in a completely empty tank.

I wonder if that has to do with his surroundings? Are betta more active/happy when they have more plants and whatnot in their tank?

laugh.gif Cute name!

I've heard that bettas do better having stuff in their homes to stimulate their minds. They also like to be able to hide. Sounds like Mr. J-S is loving his new home!! biggrin.gif

I think Betta feel safer when they are in a lushly planted tank, be it fake or real. Thye like to lurk and hide, peeping from behind leaves. It's too cute!!
